Location:

We were honored to host Miss May T. Hasola, the reigning Miss Bird of Paradise Papua New Guinea, during her recent visit to Bougainville! This significant trip is part of a vibrant cultural storytelling and tourism initiative, proudly sponsored by the Bougainville Arts Culture Tourism Authority.

Miss Hasola arrived over the weekend and chose to stay with us at Passage Travellers Inn. From here, she began a truly meaningful journey, aiming to connect deeply with the people, stories, and spirit of Bougainville.

The primary purpose of Miss Hasola’s visit is to illuminate the true essence of Bougainville Day. This isn’t just about its historical origins; it’s about showcasing the profound pride, unwavering strength, and vibrant cultural identity of Bougainvilleans today. Her mission includes:

● Capturing authentic stories directly from local communities.

● Showcasing rich traditional customs, captivating music, and energetic dance.

● Promoting local tourism through genuine, engaging content that inspires.

● Educating younger generations on the deep meaning and importance of Bougainville Day.

This initiative is far more than a ceremonial visit; it’s a powerful opportunity to preserve the region’s heritage through immersive storytelling, impactful videography, and genuine cultural exchange.

The tour is expertly led by the Bougainville Arts Culture Tourism Authority, working hand-in-hand with dedicated local partners and stakeholders. Their collective goal is to champion cultural tourism as a rapidly growing economic and social pillar for the region.

Through initiatives like this, by sharing real stories from the ground and highlighting Bougainville as a truly vibrant destination, Miss Hasola’s visit plays a pivotal role in positioning the region prominently on the national tourism map.

During her stay at Passage Travellers Inn, Miss Hasola graciously shared how much she enjoyed her time with us. She specifically remarked on the comfort of our rooms, the friendly and attentive service from our dedicated staff, and the quality of the meals provided.

We are incredibly proud to support vital cultural efforts like these by providing a welcoming space where visitors can truly rest, reflect, and feel genuinely at home.

As the celebrations of Bougainville Day continue, we eagerly anticipate the stories and moments that will be captured throughout this inspiring tour. It serves as a beautiful reminder that hospitality and culture truly go hand in hand, and we are honored to play our part in both.
